threadbare

Threadbare is a single oscillator electronic musical instrument, to be built and explored by participants in workshop settings. The instrument was designed to allow young people to construct a DIY electronic instrument, then question and develop new performance interfaces using textile materials. Using conductive thread sewn onto the circuit board, the participants were able to explore innovative ways to perform and interact with the instrument, generating an array of performative scenarios and resulting in wearable technologies and experimental performances. The workshop formed a part of the Leicester Media Festival in May 2016, and was funded by De Montfort University.
